Project Description
Overview
Joey & Ember is a children’s story that explores themes of inclusion and understanding, gently addressing the fear that can arise when encountering difference. For author and illustrator Martha Walker, it was important that the book be presented to publishers with the same care and intentionality that shaped its creation.
Martha needed a professional, easily accessible platform where publishers could explore the story, learn about the author, and experience the illustrations as more than static images.
The Challenge
Traditional submission materials often limit how much of a book’s creative process can be shared. Martha wanted a digital presence that would allow publishers to engage more deeply—seeing not only the finished illustrations, but also the artistic journey behind them.
The challenge was to create a site that felt polished and credible, while remaining intimate, story-driven, and easy to navigate.
Our Approach & Solution
Enginate designed a custom marketing website that acts as a central hub for the book. The structure emphasizes storytelling through both words and visuals, guiding visitors through the inspiration behind Joey & Ember, the author’s background, and the evolution of the illustrations.
Each illustration was given its own gallery space, allowing viewers to see progression images and understand how the artwork developed alongside the story. The design and layout were intentionally restrained, ensuring the illustrations and narrative remained the focus.
Custom contact forms were implemented with lightweight workflows to support direct inquiries from publishers—making it easy to initiate conversations without clutter or distraction.
Key Outcomes
The finished site provides a professional, welcoming space for publishers to explore Joey & Ember in depth. By combining thoughtful design with visual storytelling, the platform highlights both the narrative and the creative process behind the book—helping it stand out in a crowded submissions landscape.
The result is a focused, elegant marketing site that supports outreach goals while honoring the heart of the story and the artistry behind it.
