Project Description
Overview
Amigos of Costa Rica (ACR) is a U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated to fostering philanthropic engagement in Costa Rica by vetting nonprofit organizations and connecting them with donors. As ACR’s network and visibility grew, they needed a digital platform capable of supporting increased donor activity, partner communication, and organizational transparency.
The Challenge
ACR’s existing website lacked the structure and flexibility needed to manage a growing directory of nonprofit partners and communicate effectively with both donors and member organizations. Manual workflows, limited content organization, and the absence of secure internal tools made it difficult to scale operations while maintaining clarity and trust.
Our Approach & Solution
We led a comprehensive digital overhaul — refreshing ACR’s visual identity and rebuilding their website to support international philanthropy at scale. A core focus was improving content organization and creating backend systems that streamline how nonprofits are vetted, onboarded, and supported.
A key addition was a secure, password-protected portal for participating organizations. This private area serves as a centralized command center for over 125 nonprofits, providing access to training materials, internal announcements, documentation, and direct communication from ACR.
Each nonprofit received a dedicated profile page designed to support storytelling and donor engagement, complete with photo and video galleries. We also integrated multiple donation platforms to give donors flexibility and confidence when contributing.
The platform was built to be modular and reusable. Features such as a custom disaster-response donation page — originally developed during the 2022 flood crisis — were later redeployed for multiple emergency campaigns in 2024–2025, allowing ACR to respond quickly during critical moments.
Key Outcomes
The new platform significantly improved how ACR supports both donors and nonprofit partners. The organization successfully scaled its directory from 55 to over 150 nonprofits while maintaining clear communication and efficient workflows. In 2024, the site supported ACR’s highest fundraising year to date.
Through ongoing support, fast turnaround times, and proactive platform monitoring, Enginate helped ensure the website remained stable, flexible, and aligned with ACR’s mission as their programs and reach expanded.
